The Cancer Support Community Greater Lehigh Valley focuses on social/emotional support for cancer patients, their family, their friends, etc. They provide educational workshops, healthy lifestyle classes and social connections. Part of the educational workshops include nutrition education. So, this year they wanted a group to do a project based on their nutrition education program.
The project focused on healthy eating and involved creating outdoor planter boxes of tomatoes and herbs as well as some flower boxes. MKSD supplied different size planters, potting soil, seedlings, plant markers and healthy recipe cards that coordinated with the vegetables and herbs they were planting.
Several members of our staff enjoyed the sunshine and the comradery Friday morning to be on hand to help the Cancer Support Community members plant their outdoor planters.
Check out The Cancer Support Community Greater Lehigh Valley’s website to see all the wonderful work they do.
