A Big Day for MKSD: Breaking Ground and Cutting Ribbons in the Lehigh Valley

June 17 marked a milestone day for MKSD architects, as we proudly participated in two major events celebrating progress and community impact—the groundbreaking of the ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL in Bethlehem and the ribbon cutting of the Parkland School District Operations Center in Allentown.

These two very different projects share a common thread: both are designed to serve the community, empower people, and support the vital infrastructure that keeps our region vibrant and thriving.

ArtsQuest Creative Factory Groundbreaking

In the heart of South Bethlehem, we joined ArtsQuest, Boyle Construction, and local partners to officially break ground on the ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL. This new facility will be a hub for local makers, artists, and creatives—providing flexible workspaces, educational programming, and collaborative opportunities that energize the Lehigh Valley’s cultural landscape.

As the design firm behind the Creative Factory, MKSD is honored to help shape a space that brings people together through art, innovation, and shared experience. It’s more than a building—it’s a platform for possibility.

Parkland School District Operations Center Ribbon Cutting

On the same day, we celebrated the completion of the Parkland School District Operations Center, a modern and efficient facility that centralizes the district’s transportation, maintenance, and administrative services. The ribbon cutting ceremony brought together school officials, staff, and community members to mark the opening of a building that plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in keeping Parkland schools running smoothly.

MKSD worked closely with the district to design a facility tailored to their specific operational needs—supporting day-to-day logistics while planning for long-term growth and functionality.

A Shared Vision for Better Communities

While one project is just beginning and the other is now complete, both represent the kind of work we are most proud to do—designing spaces that directly serve the needs of our communities. Whether it’s powering creativity or supporting education, MKSD is committed to creating environments that make a difference.
