West End Fire Company

MKSD was selected to design a new facility to house the West End Fire Company, West End Ambulance, and Chestnuthill Township Emergency Operations Center in Brodheadsville, Pa. Currently, these three entities are located in separate locations dispersed throughout the Township. The new centralized joint facility will allow the three entities greater efficiencies and allow them to utilize shared spaces, emergency infrastructure, and utilities. Anticipating future needs, the building and site were designed to allow the facility to expand to add a Police Department in a future phase.

The facility houses a garage to accommodate six fire trucks and three ambulances, an Emergency Operation Center, meeting and training rooms, administration offices, an exercise room, and living quarters for the ambulance and fire department personnel. The site’s vehicular routes were designed with safety and rapid response as top priorities.

Using the renderings, cost estimate, and design development documents provided by MKSD, Chestnuthill Township is currently fundraising and applying for grants in order for construction to start in the near future.
