Catasauqua Area School District Administration Offices
MKSD architects provided designs to add a new 9,000 square foot District Administration Office to the Scheckler Elementary School for the Catasauqua Area School District.
The new offices provide:
• Superintendent’s office with conference space
• Offices for the director of curriculum and assessment, special education supervisor, business supervisor, supervisor of facilities, human resources supervisor and technology supervisor
• Secretarial spaces to support the various office functions
• Two psychologist offices
• Payroll records area
• Accounts payable area
• Reception area
• Board room with conference space that can be divided into three separate spaces
• Support spaces such as areas for records storage, supply room, server room, bathrooms, lunchroom, general office space, vault and mechanical spaces
Green design elements include:
• Solar domestic hot water system
• Daylighting for all primary spaces
• Highly reflective roofing materials to minimize the heat island effect
• Exterior solar shading devices to minimize solar gain by reducing the amount of sun shining on window areas during peak cooling season
• Low VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and recycled content containing finishes
• Integral thin film photovoltaic solar panels on the metal roofing that generate electricity
• Daylight sensors on each individual lighting component that sense the amount of daylight in a space and subsequently raise or decrease lighting levels
