Chambersburg Aquatic Center Highlighted
Public Opinion Online featured and article on August 9, 2016 that highlighted the plans for the Chambersburg Family Aquatic Center and the design details which were presented to the Borough Council the previous night.
The new Aquatic Center will be able to accommodate more than 1,000 people when complete. It will feature four bodies of water: a 1,215-square foot “sprayground” with interactive play equipment that will accommodate four or five dozen people at a time; a 715-square foot children’s pool with interactive play equipment and capacity of 59 small children; a 5,497-square-foot activity pool to include a lazy river and interactive play features with a capacity of 458 individuals; and a 7,065-square-foot lap pool with six 25-meter lap lanes and three water slides that will accommodate up to 515 individuals.
MKSD architects’ partner Todd Chambers and architect Nick Hewes presented the plans to the Borough Council and fielded questions along with Chambersburg Borough Recreation Director Guy Schaul.
Chambers estimated that if everything is ready to start construction in February 2017 as outlined in the current schedule, the pool could open on Memorial Day weekend 2018.
