Employee Spotlight – Codi Januszkiewicz

In our Employee Spotlight feature, we ask a few questions to different employees each month in order to highlight the talented individuals who work at MKSD.

What does a typical day look like?

To be honest, I don’t really care for the term “typical day”.  Every day is always a different adventure for me.  However the few things that are always definitely included are: coffee, snacks, running, and petting my dogs (and pizza, if I’m having a good day)!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people I work with!  One of the most important aspects of a job for me is office culture.  Everyone in our office is so approachable and always willing to teach others.  Collaboration is a strong key for success!

What was your first job and what did you learn from it that influences the way you work today?

My first job ever was with Wegmans, and I worked there for 10 years.  That job taught me a lot.  A few key characteristics that I developed from working there were; punctuality, strong time management skills, and how to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

What are three things you can’t live without in your workspace?

Water, sticky notes, plants

What is one unique thing that others may not know about you?

I have been to 6 continents, and will soon be planning the final 7th (Antarctica!)  My most recent adventure was in Africa, where I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, one of the world’s Seven Summits.

The summit!

What inspired you to pursue this career?

I knew I wanted a job that would allow me to be doing something different every single day and never the same thing twice.  I have always had a very creative personality, and I knew I wanted a career that would allow me to express that.

How are you involved in the community?

I enjoy giving back, and being involved whenever I can.  I was recently recognized as one of Lehigh Valley’s Finest, through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  I also volunteer at Equi-librium and serve on the Northampton Area Community College Alumni Board.

Where is your favorite place to eat/visit/hang out in the Lehigh Valley?

This is a tough question.  I love all the local breweries.  One of my favorite local restaurants is blue.

What are some of your career goals?

I am currently studying for my NCIDQ certification and would like to also become LEED Green certified.  I enjoy learning and try to take any opportunity I can to develop myself career wise.  I want to continue to grow my knowledge and skill set in all areas  so that I can become a more multi-faceted designer.

What piece of advice do you have for anyone interested in your career path?

Never doubt yourself and never be afraid to “go big”!  Don’t be afraid to take chances either.  Focus on your connections and networking, building relationships is always a good thing.
