Sacred Heart Opens 5th Floor
Last year, MKSD worked with Sacred Heart Hospital to redesign & renovate the 5th Floor of the in-patient Tower building at their Allentown City campus. This week, the hospital is making headlines as the floor is opening to patients and staff. Both The Morning Call and Lehigh Valley Live toured the facility and published articles on the features of the renovation and the reactions from visitors & staff. Morning Call’s Sam Kennedy writes, ” To create a homey feel, the Allentown hospital outfitted the unit with 18 private rooms, each with its own bathroom and a couch that converts into a bed to accommodate family members who want to stay overnight.
“Family members, we want them to stay,” Sacred Heart President and CEO John Nespoli said Wednesday at the official unveiling of the floor.
The changes are an expression of Sacred Heart’s “patient-centered” philosophy of care, he said. As a news release from the hospital explained, “Sacred Heart understands that recovery can be both physical and emotional, and having family support can make a difference in helping a patient to return home quicker.” “
