Fleming Center for Healthy Aging Opening
MKSD provided architectural and MEP engineering design services for the tenant improvements for the Fleming Center for Healthy Aging located at the 17th Street Campus of Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown. Here, physicians work with geriatric patients on memory issues, medication review, behavior issues, and they provide support so that patients can function on their own or with help. This space will allow these patients to receive support, care, and resource information for the changes that occur when one gets older.
The center is located on the first floor of the hospital and was approximately 4,500 SF. The changes to the existing suite included demolishing the existing learning resource center, reading room, and copy area, and convert the underutilized space to open work stations and private offices. The center also needed 4 new exam rooms for their expanding program. The design team converted 4 existing offices into 4 new exam rooms. Along with the program changes, the finishes were upgraded in the multi-purpose area along with a new welcoming reception desk location. Boyle Construction completed the renovations at the end of September 2015.
Lehigh Valley Economic Development reported on the opening of the Fleming Center this week in this article.
