MKSD is excited to announce that they will be competing in the inaugural Lehigh Valley Canstruction Event which will take place October 22 through October 31 at the Lehigh Valley Mall. In order to purchase the 5000+ cans of food necessary for our sculpture, MKSD needs to raise some serious money. Please visit our fundraising page, and help us reach our goal!!!!
To kick off the inaugural Lehigh Valley Canstruction event members of the Lehigh Valley Canstruction planning committee constructed a Cansculpture to promote the event at this year’s CSI Expo. The Cansculpture is now on display in the Lehigh Valley Mall!
Canstruction is a non-profit charity organization that has helped to raise over 25 million pounds of food since it’s formation in 1992. Canstruction competitions are held annually in over 200 cities around the world by local chapters, and this year marks the first Canstruction event to be held in the Lehigh Valley. Teams comprised of architects, engineers, contractors, and students design and build elaborate sculptures made entirely out of canned food. Each team is responsible for raising the funds to purchase the cans used in their Cansculptures. All of the canned food is donated to a local food bank after the Cansculptures are exhibited to the general public. The teams compete for several awards which are presented at the conclusion of the exhibit.
Canstruction Lehigh Valley has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and northeastern Pennsylvania for its inaugural Canstruction event. The theme for this year is “S’caring Hunger Away “ and will feature cansculptures with a Halloween motif. These displays will be view-able by the public during the entire week leading up to Halloween in the Lehigh Valley Mall.
